General Information on Chumphon Province

The region of interest to us geographically belongs to the central part of the country and is located in the narrowest part of Malacca, or the Malacca Peninsula, in the place where central Thailand passes into the southern part.

The province is an important transport artery of the country:

here the southern railroad runs;

the province is crossed by the automobile route (No. 4, 41) binding the central regions to southern;

from Chumphon’s piers it is carried out water communication with the islands entering Surattkhani.

besides, in 30 km from the capital of the province – the city of Chumphon – there is an airport.

Despite of the fact that the tourist branch in this area is developed poorly, it is necessary to pay attention to its advantages to vacationers:

the central location that does simpler visit of both Bangkok, and the southern regions;

absence of a large number of tourists;

possibility of quiet rest, without noise and vanity.

Chumphon, as a rule, does not carry on package tours, and the bulk of tourists is provided by travelers independently.

BeachesBeaches

The coast line is extended, but more or less civilized beaches with at least a minimal tourist infrastructure of only 2:

Thung Wua Laen;

Sai Ree (or Sai Ri).

The first is more developed in terms of tourism, is located to the north of the city (13 km); the second — to the south (20 km).

The main characteristics of the beaches:

a wide band of fine sand;

The sea is deep enough to swim;

Once a day there is an ebb, but the water does not go very far, so this is not a problem;

the sea is open (not a bay), so there may be waves that are not huge, but not for children;

sun loungers and umbrellas only at the hotels.

What you can do on the beaches of Chumphon, in addition to sunbathing and swimming:

kiting (in windy weather);

snorkeling (off the coast or near the nearest islands);

kayaking;

walks on the endless shore.

On the beaches there are massage parlors, which are a great addition to a relaxing stay.

HotelsHotels

Chumphon’s feature is low population density of the province and also sufficient remoteness of the main city from the coast. Hotels, on the contrary, are located on the listed above beaches. Between the city and the hotel zone during the day shuttle buses run. The road takes 15-20 minutes and costs the 30th baht in one party.

Holidaymakers in Chumphon a bit, therefore there are always empty seats for placement and that is important, the cost of days of accommodation, including a breakfast, makes from $10 for an air-conditioned room with amenities for two.

The most part of hotels is located on Thung Wua Laen and a little – it is possible to find on Sai Ree.

Cafes, Restaurants, BarsCafes, Restaurants, Bars

Places where it is possible to eat, are available enough on both beaches. Food – for every taste. Good comments of visitors are received by such institutions as:
