Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in the country (2565 m) and the popular tourist place in Chiang Mai. It is informal name – «a roof of Thailand». However, Doi Inthanon is not quite is suitable for full tracking. It isn’t necessary to climb up here: on the top the asphalted road conducts.
There is at the top in the daytime always a crowd of photographed tourists. Though a view from top is not the best in comparison with many mountains considered in this review. Landscapes Doi Inthanon are picturesque: there are tracks on which tourists don’t go, beautiful waterfalls, the royal chedi.

The region of location Doi Tung is of interest in itself. It is on border of Thailand, Burma and Laos, in conditional top of a so-called Gold triangle. On the Mount Doi Tung the temple of the 10th century of construction which is a Buddhist shrine and the place of a pilgrimage is located. There are scattered settlements of indigenous tribes — Shany, Akh and Lahu. In the second half of 20 century these tribes were engaged in cultivation of poppy and production of opium, delivering it worldwide.
Besides, on the mountain the Royal villa in which there lived mother of the previous princess of Somdey Pra Srinagarindra is located. Now in the villa the museum and in the territory adjacent to her – a botanical garden is organized.
Generally, Doi Tung is the interesting place in the tourist relation with an old story. Height small is 1389 m. No permissions and attendants for rise are required. The road is trampled down and simple up.

Doi Pha Hom Pok is top of Thailand, the second for height (2285 m). It settles down in the territory of the park of the same name on border with Burma. Here infrequently there come tourists because of what these places are considered as good for practice of tracking. The terrain is not very wooded, there are paved trails.
All participants have to get permission to rise in the administration of the park which is located nearby – in Fange. Also indispensable condition of rise is maintenance by the guide.

In other northern province, located in the valley the Nan River – it is possible to climb up Phu Soi Dao. The mountain is the highest top of the massif Luang Prabang extending along the Thai-Laotian border and being a part of the national park of the same name.
The territory of the park is covered with the dense forest which is cut by the numerous rivers. The area is remote therefore here the various fauna has remained. To climb up Phu Soi Dao (2120 m) it will be required to overcome 6,5 km of a way which will take not less than 6 hours. Generally, it is the real tropical tracking.

Doi Chiang Dao is top of Thailand, the third on height (2175 m). The karst massif by which peak she it is, formed about 250 million years ago. Both during rise on the mountain, and at the top, tremendous panoramas on the valley of Ao Salung and other peaks of the massif open.
The mountain Doi Chang Dao is of interest from the point of view of practice of a klaymbing. Perhaps, the climbing category won’t be required here, but definitely not to do without guide. First of all, for the sake of safety of tracking. The administration of National park of Chiang Dao by rules doesn’t allow on top of people without accompanying.

Phu Kradueng (1316 m) in the northeast province Loei has the bell form: at her top – the flat plateau. From all directions the mountain is covered with evergreen forests which are replaced by open pastures. Elephants and macaques live in this area, and there are a lot of different types of birds. Phu Kradyeng is the popular place for tracking. On the mountain the tent camping in which anyone can stop is organized. However here it is a little tourists since the province not tourist in itself.
There are rains from July to September in the area. At this time Phu Kradyeng is closed for visit. But in other 9 months here very pleasant climate, not too hot though at top of the mountain it is rather windy and not to do without warm clothes. However, the last advice treats all province: temperature drop of air in this area can be essential even in the lowland.

Khao Luang (1780 m) is located in the south of Thailand in the territory of the national park of the same name which is in the Province of Nakhon Xi Thammarat on the bank of the Gulf of Thailand. The mountain is covered with evergreen forests. Here it is very damp, constant fogs, from May to December – pour rains so what at this time here not to pass. But at the very beginning of a dry season in the park and on the mountain it is possible to see the real tropical riot of life and paints. In the territory 327 animal species live, more than 300 types of orchids grow.
Tracking on Khao Luang is extremely popular at this time. Services in the organization and maintenance are offered by numerous tour operators. As a rule, such travel lasts 3 days with two spending the night in the territory of the park.
